If you have users who speak a different language, it can be helpful to translate your learning activities. In this article it will be explained how to translate learning activities.
How do I translate a learning activity?
To be able to translate a learning activity, you must first duplicate the learning activity. The following learning activities can be duplicated:
If you want to create a new version of another kind of learning activity in a different language, you will need to create and set up a new learning activity from scratch in the desired language.
To translate a learning activity, follow these steps:
1. Duplicate the learning activity
To achieve this, open the learning activity via 'Courses' and click the duplicate icon in the top right corner of the screen. You can adjust the title of the new learning activity as needed.
2. Duplicate the learning forms you want to translate
Click the pencil icon in the learning activity to edit the learning format. If you want to edit a learning format that appears in multiple learning activities (e.g., in the original version and the duplicate), you will receive a notification asking if you want to duplicate the learning format or edit the original. When translating, choose to duplicate the learning format, which you can then translate yourself.
What role does an administrator need to translate learning activities?
Within the online academy, you can set up various roles and permissions. An administrator with full permissions will always have the ability to translate learning activities as previously described.
Perhaps you want to add an administrator to your online academy who is only responsible for translating learning activities. Then, you can assign an administrator a role with permissions limited to editing specific learning activities. Learn more about how this is done in this article. You will then assign this administrator editing permissions for the duplicated learning activities. This way, the administrator only has access to the learning activities they will be translating.
Translating with the Smart Assistant
The Smart Assistant can translate the texts from your learning activity for you. Again, always start by duplicating the learning activity and learning format. In the learning activity, select the text you want to translate, and click on the three stars in the menu to edit the text. Here, you choose 'Translate' and select the desired language. The 'Use text' button will ensure that the translated text is incorporated into your learning activity. You can later adjust the text as needed.
The Smart Assistant can translate into the following languages:
Dutch
English
German
French
Spanish
Polish
Hungarian
Slovak
Portuguese
Bulgarian
Romanian
