User logs: what are they and what can I do with them?

In the user logs, you can view the activity of a user account. For example, all login attempts are recorded in these logs, and as an administrator, you can see when you have registered a user for a certain learning activity.

Sometimes it is useful for administrators to be able to view these logs. For example, when a user reports problems logging in. The administrator can check the logs to see if the user has entered an incorrect password and, if necessary, send the user an invitation to create a new password.

How can I access the user logs?

Administrators with the permission 'Manage users' can view the user logs. To access the logs, they navigate to the user overview and click on the clipboard icon to the right of the user's name.

Most of the actions that you can see in the user logs speak for themselves. Examples of these are:

  • Login: the user has logged in with their username and password.

  • Login - wrong password: the user attempted to log in, but used the wrong password.

  • Logged in by admin: an administrator has logged into the user's account.

  • User changed: an administrator has modified the user's data (email address, management rights, invitation sent).

  • Enrollment activity: an administrator has enrolled the user in a learning activity.

  • Cancellation activity: an administrator has unenrolled the user from a learning activity.

  • Registration removed: an administrator has completely removed a registration for a learning activity.
