When creating an e-learning, it can be helpful to start from a predefined structure. Within the academy, you can use a template. As an admin, you create this template yourself by marking an e-learning as a template. This way, the e-learning can be used as the basis for a new e-learning. When creating a new e-learning, you can choose to start from a template or from a blank e-learning.
A template is a foundation on which to base a new e-learning. It is not possible to enrol users in a template.
This article explains how to mark an e-learning as a template, and how to create an e-learning based on a template.
Marking an e-learning as a template
To mark an e-learning as a template, follow these steps:
Go to “Content” via the menu bar on the left side of the screen.
Open the e-learning you want to turn into a template.
Go to the “Settings” tab.
In the “Template” section, click “Use as template”.
Confirm your choice.
You will now be redirected to the newly created template.Change the title of the template.
Edit the template by clicking “Edit template”.
The template contains the same content as the e-learning it is based on. This means the learning formats within the template also appear in the original e-learning. When editing the template, it's therefore important to decide whether you want to edit the learning format only in the template, or in all instances where it appears.
To edit learning formats in the template, follow these steps:
Click “Edit template” within the template.
Select the section and paragraph where you want to edit a learning format.
Click the pencil icon next to the learning format you want to edit.
Since the format is used in multiple places, you’ll be given two options:
Duplicate: This duplicates the learning format, and the changes will only apply to the template you’re currently working on.
Edit original: This updates the learning format in all learning activities where it is used.
